About Globacap

We are a fast growing, entrepreneurial Blockchain Capital Raising Platform headquartered in London. Our mission is to liberate ambitious SMEs by simplifying, streamlining, and widening access to capital on a global scale. Using the latest Blockchain and machine learning technology, the Globacap capital raising platform connects businesses directly to institutional and retail investors, handles the investment process, and provides a secondary market.

As a world first, we will be issuing our own equity in blockchain tokens later this year through our platform. These will carry full voting and dividend rights, just like the regular stock exchange. We are targeting investors worldwide, across the US, Europe, and Asia, and are currently working with regulators in all jurisdictions to make this happen. This makes what we are doing revolutionary in the fintech space.

Entrepreneurship is at the core of our culture and we are looking for an ambitious individual to join us on our exciting journey. You will have the opportunity to work closely with our proven, dynamic management team, and will play a hands-on role in growing and structuring our company for the future.

If you are passionate about the potential of blockchain and disrupting global capital markets, then we are looking for you

The Role

We are on the hunt for an entrepreneurial, dynamic Financial Controller to join our team, reporting directly to the CFO/COO. As the company grows, there will be scope to grow into the CFO role, which will need to be split within the next 18 months.

The perfect candidate is a bright, intellectual self-starter who is not afraid to roll their sleeves up and work flexibly to solve problems in a proactive manner. You are not afraid to experiment, learning fast and adapting quickly. You will be an excellent collaborator and communicator. Experience in financial services is a must.

Day-to-day activities will include:

  • Deputising for the CFO regularly, acting as a key advisor to the Exec Team
  • Supporting the CFO in identifying solutions to build out the critical components of the finance function as we scale and grow (e.g. MI and KPI reporting, strengthening the control environment, research and selection of tech solutions providers, monthly reporting, etc)
  • Helping Globacap build a world class accounting and reporting function, utilising best practice and automation
  • Preparation of annual reports and accounts as well as monthly management accounts and weekly cash flow forecasts
  • Being a critical part of the financial forecasting and scenario planning process
  • Managing and delivering on the financial element of our regulatory reporting commitments, including client money management and CASS procedures
  • Identifying and proactively resolving key accounting issues as and when they arise
  • Contributing to our culture of continuous improvement
  • Collaboration with other team members and stakeholders

Requirements & Experience:

Fundamentally, you will have great positive energy and bags of initiative, rising to challenges with a can-do attitude. Ideally you will have experience working in a start-up/fast paced environment and will have most of the following:

  • Qualified ACA / ACCA or CIMA, preferably Big 4 trained
  • At least 2 years post-qualified experience in a varied line finance role, from either a financial services start up or banking environment
  • Core technical accounting and commercially focussed budget management skills. IFRS and UK GAAP knowledge. Where no UK GAAP knowledge, ability to do the appropriate research to arrive at correct conclusions
  • Experience in establishing new processes and procedures in very short timeframes and clear track record of simplifying existing processes. Exposure to finance transformation projects (in a larger financial institution) or finance function build out (in a start up) is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and take the initiative to respond to changing situations and priorities with a high sense of ownership, urgency and drive
  • A passion for the detail – excellent planning, organisation and time-management skills
  • Team spirit; strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
